Is the bank allowed to charge a payoff preparation fee?

I'm not aware of such a fee being allowed to be charged to the borrower under the IC. I do know however that if the borrower requests a payoff statement in writing you must provide them under the IC an accurate written statement within 7 business days or be subject to a fine. IC 24-4.5-3-209
