I feel for those who've suffered flood losses and I really feel for those who were completely out of flood zones and suffered a loss from the extraordinary rains that have fallen in the last weeks. But this is one reason rules shouldn't be bent and "that'll be good enough" isn't good enough unless it's by the book.

How many borrowers will be looking for relief because a lender took shortcuts or the agent reduced the flood zone designation to lower the premium? I may be reading in a worse case scenario, but for many this was the worse case.
