Kansas is in trouble. After slashing income taxes in 2012, the state faces a revenue gap of more than $400 million. Republican Governor Sam Brownback and state legislators are debating how to make up the shortfall. So far they’ve agreed on one way to control how state money is spent. Starting in July, people on the dole will be limited to a single ATM withdrawal of no more than $25 per day. The law also prohibits spending public-assistance cash at movie theaters, swimming pools, and video arcades. Nail salons and tattoo parlors are out, too. http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articl...ents-on-welfarenothing motivates people to get out and find a job better than having all their free stuff end...

Why were they ever "in" to begin with?
It ought to be real tough to be poor. This lolling about on the way over-ample safety net is counterproductive and only enables.

and you should have to show an ID when using an EBT card - which ends the black market selling of cards with peoples names on them for 50% of the value for cash

Food stamps need to be more like WIC, which specifies exactly what you can buy.
I worked at grocery stores through high school and college, and I was always amazed at how much soda, candy, and other junk food is bought with food stamps.

So slashing income taxes in 2012 didn't lead to a booming economy for Kansas? The Dems will be all over that one in the next election.

i'd be interested to know what their version of "slashing" is defined as. likely a 1% or less to the average taxpayer...
