Could someone please help me by telling me how a "trustee" on an irrevocable trust should sign on the signature line? I was lead to understand that if the signature line reads: Jane Doe, Trustee, that that is the way the individual should sign. That their signature should include the word "Trustee". Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If I sign:

William B. Travis, I have given the payee a drawer's promise and the argument that I am personally liable on the check.

If I sign:

William B. Travis, Trustee, then I am definitely not personally liable on the check.

It should be an easy choice for the trustee or any other fiduciary for that matter.
