We sent a foreign wire, we received a service message the following day saying the name did not match. We contacted the customer and sent a reply to the service message with the correct name. The following day we received another service message requesting a $20 fee for the need to submit a service request. Is this normal? In the 8 years I've been in banking I've never heard of this before. Do we have to comply?

Some banks do send service messages asking for fees, generally an amendment fee. As Randy said, if you want them to send the wire, I'd pay the fee but in this case it appears the customer provided bad info. We'd let the customer know about the additional fee and charge it to THEM (the bank wouldn't eat it) unless the error was the bank's fault.
