Many of you have seen our posts heralding the June 11, 2004, NACHA rules change requiring that consumers be given an Opt-out of having their checks converted to ARC ACH transactions.

Researching another question today, I came across an interesting tidbit: Although NACHA mandated an opt-out, they haven't required Originators to notify their customers of that right! So it's apparently up to Originators to decide whether they want to put that useful piece of information in with their billing materials.

The source? The May 2004 NACHA Rules Working Group Update.
