He fit perfectly the swashbuckling swagger of the Raiders--when they were good. Taking the handoff from Jim Otto, handing off to Marv Hubbard, or throwing to Fred Biletnikoff or Dave Caspar: good times.

Hard to believe he's not in the NFL Hall of Fame. You can't tell the story of the NFL without a mention of Ken Stabler. As much as I hated the Raiders of the 70s as a Patriots fan, he was a great player.

The tribute story in the paper quoted a family member as saying "A great quarterback, he was an even greater father to his three girls, and grandfather to his two 'grand snakes' ".
