Over the years, I've been to a few on the above list. I chose the Grand Canyon as my favorite but it may be a sentimental favorite from when I was a kid and we visited it on occasion when we went to see relatives in Prescott, Arizona.

Here's a link that lists the national parks for a more expansive view.

Kings Island is actually my favorite theme park in Ohio!

Happy - you need to spend two days in Ohio and cover them both. It's easily driving distance between these parks. You can't miss out on either, add it to your bucket list.

if King's is the one in Cincy, went when I was a young lad and was underwhelmed...of course, growing up in the shadow of Six Flags over Texas, King's was like a county fair

Kings Island is now owned by Cedar Point, and has improved immensely since the days you were a lad, Happy.

I still think Cedar Point is better, but with Kings Island you are not far from Cincinnati and can visit the Zoo, The Original Montgomery Inn for Ribs, see a minor league baseball game (The Reds). Although, coming from New Orleans, I don't think that Cincinnati food would impress you as much.

Of course, the last time you visited the Grand Canyon, it was just a stream and you said, "Someday kids, this is going to be big I tell ya" smirk

Yeah it was, DD! Just a mere trickle. I was a visionary though. I threw some rocks in it and packed sand around them, damming what became the Colorado. Pre-dated Hoover Dam/Lake Mead I can tell you that! Gave 'em the idea for later implementation when the river grew some, I did.

Yeah he did, DD!

Was sort of a Gran Torino B.C. moment. Some of those rocks he threw at me were pretty big too. I got back at him though. I carted his ol' rocks upstream and incorporated them in my dam. Cut off his water figuring that'll teach him.

Yellowstone....Grand Canyon....hard to compare, but I voted Yellowstone....plan for a week at least. I have been there five times....three of those for lengthy backpacking trips (younger days!!). Grand Canyon....there is simply NO describing it until you've seen it in person. Consider the North Rim....lovely. Don't leave Glacier National Park off your list and if you have a passport, venture into Canada, for their half of the park, Waterton Lakes. And I recommend Acadia National Park off the Maine Coast. While you're there, visit Baxter State Park....which in my opinion should have National Park status.

On your list, I've been to the Smokies, Yellowstone, and the Badlands. Of those, I'd choose Yellowstone.

But, the very best vacation we ever took was to Acadia National Park in Maine. Loved every minute of it. We're planning to go back the summer of 2017. Can't wait!

I've been to 6 on your list and all were beatiful, but Denali was my favorite. If you go, try to get to Glacier Bay as well.

It's sad to see Glacier Park burning. I have a lot of family in the area and the pictures they've sent are truly horrible. The Going to the Sun Hwy has been closed and will likely remain closed through this summer.

We went to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone in 2013 and are going back again this year - in a few weeks, in fact. I love it up there and can't wait until it is time to leave.

We loved the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone but Grand Canyon might have been the favorite. We are heading to Smokie Mountains this October.

Yellowstone was great and for #2 Amtrak from Seattle to LA was fun.

I picked Grand Canyon, but all of them are unique and beautiful. Fantastic scenery. I still have a lot to visit yet, but there is nothing better than a National Park vacation!

I did my own road trip and went to (in order) Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, Natural Bridges NM, drove down the Mokey Dugway (Not to be missed if you are in the area!), Monument Valley, Lake Powell (Glen Canyon NRA), Grand Canyon. Started and finished the trip in Las Vegas.

I voted Yellowstone. We went to Yellowstone about 8 years ago and spent a week there. We stayed in West Yellowstone, MT. Our daughters, who are in their 20s now, still say that was there favorite vacation. Two years ago, we flew into Las Vegas, rented a car, and traveled to Grand Canyon, Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, and Death Valley. Yosemite was beautiful, but it was in July, and the falls were dried up. Next summer, we are going on a land/sea cruise of Alaska and will see Denali. My vote may change after that trip.
