Mississippi has a significantly lower gas tax than Louisiana, usually gas is $.15-.25 below our prices if I head over there

OK
Someone posted a picture on Facebook last night - it was either $1.94 or $1.96 in OKC. Not sure what it is here. Last week when I filled up it was something like $2.49. I just know it's not good for the economy around here. People are starting to lose their jobs as the oil and gas production is starting to shut down.

Yep. I was saying this morning that it doesn't matter how cheap gasoline is if my hub gets laid off. Fingers crossed it starts to stabilize or OK will be in bad shape like it was 30 years ago.

Way, way south.
No offense to anyone in the industry, but I'm hoping gas prices fall to around $2 or less for an extended period of time.

$2.16 and still slowly falling in south La.

and I heard on the news this morning that oil wells operating in the gulf of Mexico are at the highest level in 10+ years...I think they are drilling and storing as much as they can now that prices are low, and will be selling much when prices start to rise

Another thing that bugs me is that because some won't let a pipeline go through we are wasting resources. A co-worker went with her husband on a job a couple of weekends ago and not only were they shutting down good producing oil wells, but there were pipes sticking out of the ground and fire where they were burning off the gas because they have no way to transport it until they decide to build a pipeline. So let's just waste the gas that's there by burning it off. Makes sense doesn't it?

Just took a short day off to celebrate my wife's and my 25th anniversary. Drove 2 hrs north from our town. Gas in our town when we left was 2.64 Down .05 from the day before. When we reached our destination gas was 2.19.

Upon returning home last night our gas in town was 2.55. This price bouncing makes no sense.

I saw $1.99 on my way into work today. I'm very surprised, I never thought I'd see it that low again.

out of the frying pan...
My hubby just called and said he passed a station advertising cash price of $1.98/gal, card price $2.03. Too bad he'd just filled up.

Someone posted a picture on Facebook last night showing it at $1.79 in OKC last night. This is not good for the economy! And right at Christmastime. Lots of people here already being layed off at work.

Fixed. It is great for the economy as a whole, when it only takes $50 to fill up my vehicle instead $100. That's more money for me to save or pump into other areas of the economy.

My parents send me a pic of them filling up for $1.88 about 30 mins from where I live. Hopefully that price comes my way!

I am truly sorry for the middle and lower economic class Americans being negatively affected, but for the vast majority of the US, this is great! Imagine the savings everyone is enjoying.

Lower economic class? The oil industry pays very well and when those jobs disappear it's significant. I recognize that not everyone sees falling oil prices through the same lense as Okies but it will begin to negatively affect the rest of the economy if the price continues to fall.
