boy, professional American football is boring as hades...from poor play execution, way too many penalties, every first down or tackle elicits a stupid celebration, much less commentators who just love to hear themselves...good bye, NFL... i'll find a better use of my time

And too many grossly overpaid players.

Stopped watching years ago although I do pay attention to the scores.

I agree with you Happy. Used to be a rabid Cowboys fan but it's been years since I followed NFL football at all. Anytime I'm in a room with a game on, I'm amazed how, despite the high-tech broadcast wizardry, the showy glitz and glitter, the Armageddon announcing, the supposedly clever commercials, and the titillating cheerleaders, how unsatisfying and futile it is to endure watching a game in this day and age.

It's liberating for the NFL to not be a part of one's life.

If the NFL gets more boring, they'll have to change the name to "soccer".

I agree, soccer in the US is boring...now, football as it is known to the rest of the world = awesome

That's why I prefer college sports in general. The players actually have something to play for (the ones who aren't getting paid under the table) so they go hard every game. Players in the pros have to play for their contracts sure, but they've more than likely already made millions already and the vast majority of the players lose their passion it seems like. Although the level of play is down a notch from the professional level that also for me gives it an extra element...for example if a team in the NFL is up by 14 with 4 minutes left in the game you can pretty much call it over, whereas in College Football it's seemingly always down to the wire.

I agree that there's far too much celebration; but must disagree with the rest of your post. From high school to the NFL I watch football pretty much any opportunity I have. Usually find a local game attend on Friday night, spend what little free time I have on Saturdays watching various college programs. I clear as much of my to do list throughout the weekday evenings and Saturday. Generally when Sunday rolls around I start watching at 1:00 and stop watching when the Sunday night game ends.

I've gotten spoiled with Sunday Ticket and DVR. For my team (search some of my past posts if you have questions of who they are), I can DVR every game and I generally start watching between 1 to 1.5 hrs after the game actually starts, skip through commercials (4 clicks of the 30 sec button for a typical timeout, 5 clicks after score, 5 clicks at 2 min warning), skip through halftime and generally finish the game just around real time or slightly after. Only downside is I have to avoid social media/text/email while I'm waiting and while I'm watching. Otherwise, I watch the Red Zone channel where there is generally always some action going on. Definitely beats turning on CBS or Fox and just watching one game live with commercials, time outs, halftime, etc.

tacky jewelry? well, since no team in vegas, i'll go with Jets or Giants, assuming the diamond merchants of NYC is what is being referenced

soaring over Georgia? well, that is the second reference, so Atlanta must be it

I believe the clue is not the moniker of the poster but the picture of the ring just below.

on this low resolution wide screen the small picture looks like a Yankee World Series ring somewhat oblong.

so his favorite NFL team is the Yankees?

So it appears to by a NY on other screens as well. (for some reason both teams refer to themselves as NY when they are actually NJ teams but that is another story)

Doesn't NY consider NJ their "south side"

A few years ago, a Brazilian ref stabbed a player to death. The fans reacted by beheading him.
