We have an applicant whose nationality is Indian.....from India. There is not a Race category that fits. Has anyone else run into this and what solution did you have?

From the OMB Definitions of Race and Ethnic Categories Used for Federal Reporting:

Asian - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine island, Thailand and Vietnam.

Don't confuse nationality with race. HMDA does not address nationality....only ethnicity and race. And the applicant is always free to simply not provide a response to the race category. Then, if the interview is face-to-face, you can use the OMB's guide to make a choice.
