I'm still trying to plod my way through. According to my kindle I'm about 73% into it and I hope I can finish. I think it's really bad, unfortunately, and after I loved To Kill A Mockingbird.

My thoughts exactly, also struggled to get through it. It should never have been published IMO.
While I understand the era in which it was written the racist language was so extreme. Between that and the poor writing in general, it was such a disappointment.

The Last Exile - don't recall the author, compelling read set in England about a former police officer who believes he has been recruited by the government to find illegal immigrants and have them deported - only to see each of the killed by the "immigration" officers...

I think it's really bad, unfortunately, and after I loved To Kill A Mockingbird. you should follow my rule - I give a book to page 100, if I struggle at that point, the book goes away. life is too short to read bad books, regardless of the author.

Finally started Finders Keepers by Stephen King, who is recommending Last Words by Michael Koryta so that's my next one. Never heard of him but it sounds really good.

Currently reading "Mr Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore" - really well written, very pretty turns of phrase. I picked this up by accident and was very glad that I did.

It's great, isn't it! I read something like that, and it gives me hope when I'm slogging through something I thought I would enjoy and just don't.
Currently reading (listening to) Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews - the new Kate Daniels book came out last week so I am warming up with this one first. These do NOT fall into the 'thought I would enjoy / don't' category, btw.
Alert - for Temeraire fans - the new (final) book will be out in May 2016 and Amazon's already taking pre-orders.

Thanks for the reminder about the new one being out. I love this series but had somehow lost track of the new release and didn't get it pre-ordered.

The Myth of You & Me (Lisa Stewart) recommended by Book Bub and it is a really cool read. Story of tow friends that lose each other after college and find their way back.
Also dying to read the new Lisa Scottoline - Accused

just finished Black Mass - yes, the movie is based on the book. book was originally published in 2000, has been updated to include additional results from trials...very intense, and shows what happens when using the ends to justify the means

Loving the "Throne of Glass" series. Also listening to another Connie Willis time travel book, "Blackout".

"All the Light We Cannot See." I read it before it hit the best sellers list and thought it was okay, but not great. Then, I had so many people tell me it was wonderful that I read it again. My opinion improved somewhat on some specific points, but I discovered that the shifts between subjects and time frames was dizzying if you did not read it in large blocks of time. I have a finer appreciation for quality of writing and plot structure, but would give it no better than a 7 or 8 out of 10 and the overall plot is less than believable.

I had no idea Patton died in a suspicious manner.

Violating my own rule about reading the books in the order they hit my list. Someone handed me "The Martian" this morning. Daughter wants to see the movie, so I will read the book now. Yes, I have the therapist on speed dial in case this out of order thing on TRID weekend just sends me right over the edge.

Ken - I was fascinated by the way her dad taught her to "see". I did read it in large chunks of time so the time shifts didn't bother me. Language a bit flowery for my taste. It kind of took me into the world of a blind girl for bit....
