Checked one of our bank's ATM receipts today. No reference to actual City or location. There are some codes that I assume identify the ATM location because when I look on the periodic stmt the location is correctly identified there. Is this OK?

Receipt requirements are in "E". Look to 12 CFR §205.9(a)(5) Terminal location. The location of the terminal where the transfer is initiated, or an identification such as a code or terminal number. Except in limited circumstances where all terminals are located in the same city or state, if the location is disclosed, it shall include the city and state or foreign country and one of the following:

(i) The street address; or

(ii) A generally accepted name for the specific location; or

(iii) The name of the owner or operator of the terminal if other than the account-holding institution.

Thanks for your reply. I had already referred to Reg E and didn't fully comprehend. I just need to know if a code on the receipt is acceptable as long as the stmt identifies the locations.

And the answer is, Yes, a code can be used on the receipt.

As John noted, yes. The terminal number or other code is fine. You need to understand the receipt more than the customer. The codes should be unique to the machine used.
