Last Friday Night as my Aunt, uncle and their friends were going to Starkville MS to attend the Miss State Football game, Saturday, a young woman made a terrible mistake that almost cost them their lives. Pretty much a head-on collision going 65 mph. Johnny (driving the car my aunt and uncle were in) was unhurt; his wife Peggy in the front seat has a broken hip and broken sternum from the seatbelt; my uncle Ben has a broken left arm, and broken tentacles on his vertebrae as well as intense pain from where the seatbelt stopped him across his chest; my aunt Mildred has a broken left wrist, broken left hip, and 10 broken ribs. Ben was released from the hospital Saturday. Peggy had hip replacement surgery Monday. Mildred's hip socket was broken but it will hold the hip bone without popping out of joint when she moves so there was no need to perform anysort of repair work on her hip - she will have to stay off of her left leg for 6 weeks so the socket can heal. They performed surgery yesterday to repair her wrist - put in plates and pins to hold it in place. They will all have a long recovery process and we covet your prayers for their recovery.
The driver of the pickup that hit them was released Saturday however her 17 year old passenger is in critical condition.
