We are at $2.31 out my window, down the road 15 minutes it is 2.17, go on down another 30 minutes 1.90 then another 30 minute and it is 1.80.

Further south you go the better it gets.

Drove back to west central Texas from Searcy, Arkansas over the past weekend and saw $1.88 in a place or two along I-30. We didn't need gas then so instead filled up at a Loves just west of Texarkana for $1.91.

Nobody purchases gas in our small town if they can help it. All stations are served by the same distributor. $1.99 everywhere here.

An hour away in Abilene it can be found for $1.86. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area last weekend it was $1.72 (Arlington).

These low gas prices are like getting a raise in pay.

$1.85, and while i'm enjoying it, our state budget is way in the red, plenty of oil companies and oil service providers have laid off huge numbers or just closed, state is looking at cutting jobs as well...banks that are heavy into energy lending are making huge loan-loss provisions on these credits...

OOOOOOklahoma
Same here in OK. While this crash is not as bad as the crash in the '80's, Oklahoma's economy has taken a real hit. I'm anxious to see our latest unemployment numbers. Gov. Fallin has mandated all state agencies to reduce their spending by 10% immediately.
I would imagine banks that invest heavily in energy are going to start taking loan losses.
My husband's department was reduced by 1/3 last week with layoffs. He made it through but it's bittersweet to see our friends struggle while we're thankful he's got a job. Who know when the next round will come.

The prices WILL go up and I personally think it will be sooner rather than later.

I realize that some will suffer (I have family in the fracking biz), and as much as that stinks, for the vast majority of the US population, this is a boon.

While I can sympathies with the individuals. I do not recall the Oil/ Gas industry shedding a tear when banks were laying off and many with no raises for years.

I am not trying to sound preachy or woe-is-me so I hope it doesn't come across that way. I like filling up my car for $30 as much as anyone.
