Does anybody have a template for a spreadsheet or anything used to track transactions for suspicious activity? I'm looking for ideas on how to best manually track cash in or out so that I can look for trends. I have cash reports that I review daily that show all cash transactions over 3,000. And a have a report that I review daily that shows a rolling week of cash transactions in and out per customer. I just need help deciding how to best consolidate that information to see if Jon Doe is conducting certain transactions repeatedly.

We produce a report through our AML software. It shows all cash transactions 6,000.00 to 10,000.00 sorted by customer. We pull it for a rolling three months and look for trends, take a sampling to verify alerts were created, etc.. Other than that, we reply on our AML software to produce alerts.

We also can pull reports from our core processor for a period of time. Check to see if your core of AML software has such a report.

Looking for my sanity
Mine is pretty basic, just an excel spreadsheet with filters on the column headers so I can filter by last name, SSN, etc. We manually input all cash transactions from our core. It works great for a small bank. Been using it for about 10 years.

We are truly manually monitoring through use of an Excel spreadsheet. I can track trends across the month (or within the month, especially if the activity is just beginning).

We used to use an excel spreadsheet and entered our large $ ins and outs from core reports daily. You can sort by any field you like. We caught structuring this way, but it is labor intensive.

I am wondering what cash threshold others are using to capture and monitor cash deposit and withdrawal transactions? Currently our tellers are instructed to ask customers the source or purpose of cash on all transactions over $3,000. We are being told that our bank is too strict. What are you doing? Thanks, Lisa.

We are doing $3,000 as well. I hear grumblings every now and then. I don't think it's strict. We've had customers split the cash between the branches.

We used to have a $3,000 limit that we've now bumped up to $4,000.

We are using $3,000 but most of our tellers will send an alert for anything over $1,500. Not sure why.
