We filed an amended CTR but forgot to include the DCN number and we checked initial versus amended. So, presently, we have 2 CTRs for the same transaction filed with FINCEN but they are not exact duplicates as the second one included a correction to an ID number. I checked FAQs, etc. and I don't see how to correct this type of error. Help.

Call FinCEN, but they will tell you there is not much you can do about it. There is no way to delete a CTR.

Hmm, makes sense for a batch file with XXX+ reports, but wonder what difference it would make for a discrete filing of an individual CTR. It's not like someone's going to read it and think, "Haven't I seen this before?"

I once attempted this process back in the paper days and despite the item in question obviously being a duplicate was told that it wasn't. :shrug

They have to be exact duplicates to be removed. Internally document it and move on.
