The forecast for St. Louis is light snow this evening, followed by 1 to 3 inches overnight. Based on that. Missouri schools are closing early and cancelling after school activities. I just wanted to post that so folks in Wisconsin, Michigan, etc could have a good laugh.

It has been a weird winter though. We haven't needed the snow shovels at all so far. I supposed we can blame El Nino.

We're expecting 2-5" starting around 1:00 a.m. That's a lot for here.

We are expecting 1 inch tonight and 5-7 on Friday. Depending on the temp line, we will either have the 5-7 of snow or 1 inch of ice. I am hoping for the snow.

We are suppose to get 2-4 through midnight tonight. It will be the first major snow so of course everyone will be sliding around. It's amazing just how people can forget how to drive in the snow!

Yesterday our forecast was for nearly a foot, now we are down to 3 inches of snow Friday night. At this rate, we may not get anything.

Brain...your mention of WI folks makes me laugh. One of my friends here is an Air Force transplant from WI...He posted a meme this morning regarding our weather here in South GA that went something like: Forecast: You're gonna freeze your assets off. The cold here, even in the upper 20's and no snow is way more freezing than some of the northern colder areas. I believe it when folks FROM those areas concur!

You're so right! Cold in the south is so much worse. I've lived in a lot of places that had colder temps or got lots of snow. I've never been colder than when it's in the teens in OK. The icy north wind can take your breath away. Luckily the snow is missing us though. We've had more than enough ice and snow this winter.

You're so very right. I lived in Alabama for about a year with my now-husband (he's originally from Alabama, I'm from West Virginia). I agree, the cold in the South is worse because it's so damp, it just gets down into your bones.

cold in the south is only worse for people in the south ... us northerners can handle the cold because I've been in it for 37 years. I however can not handle the heat. anything warmer than 80 is unacceptable.

My theory is you can always add another sweater, but you can only take so much off

Every idiot and his brother was at the grocery last night. All of their double cousins were at the gas station. The local media whips people into a ridiculous frenzy!

Yet, the worst panic I've ever seen is in DC and, sure enough, it's on its way.

Guess who moved to Alabama in July? This girl right here. I about died the first couple of weeks. After that, I got used to it (or, well, as used to it as I could get....).

I imagine if I spent my winters with temperatures regularly well below zero, I would wholeheartedly disagree that cold is worse in the South. There was just something about it that made it feel worse sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I'd trade 37 degrees for -7 any day, no matter the humidity of the air. :-P

If they are like the weather people around here, they'll say a foot and it'll only snow a couple of inches. But when they say it'll only snow a couple of inches, you'll get a foot of snow.

Storm watch for 6 - 8 inches here. And yet the forecast says slight chance of flurries for the next few days. Which to believe???
