I'm dang glad I don't work for the Fairbanks bank that posted (At least I think it was Fairbanks) I can't imagine living on that salary in Fairbanks. And besides, Auditors should be paid a premium because everyone in the bank thinks they're out to get them. You should get extra bucks just because folks won't sit next to you at the company picnic

Well said! (Your Fairbanks assumption is correct)

I'd like to second that "BS in Management" comment.

So nice to hear from a fellow alum - is your Master's degree the coveted MBA ("My Battered A$$") too? I double-majored...and I'm thinking about joining the faculty.

LOL Bartman -

Yeah - I've MORE than earned the MBA designation. To earn that illustrious degree you had to have ample experience in IT conversions, mergers, acquisitions, restructures, regulatory changes, Sr. Mgmt changes, many, many exams and audits (a few with training crews ), employee embezzlement, etc.,

But, my personal fav - converting to Power Proof and 6 bundles are out of line on the second pass so they get encoded with the wrong amount - error wasn't noticed - cash letter goes out! Let me see you balance and clear up that Due From Recon!!

I think it would be interesting to know gender too!

I've no time to break this down, but I'm getting the feeling that females work for less or a better way to put it - get paid less. Of course, it's my understanding that that is still the case in most fields, but this type of work should provide a level playing field as gender is not an issue, at all.

These two posts show that this "survey" has no real value. They both make about the same, but one has 14 year more 'banking' esperience - but is also in a much smaller asset environment.

Salary - it's a 'whatever the market will bare" scenario in banking with special circumstances at the individual level always a factor, asset size, staff level, outsourced versus inhouse compliance tasks, etc. Besides, each institution looks at compliance and auditing in a different way and if a specific institution has a 'complex balance sheet' the compliance/audit people had better be paid sufficiently to respond to that level of risk.

As an aside, is $31K a livable wage for anyone in the banking field? Hopefully, you also get a clothing allowance or, perhaps, you only work three days a week.

As it turns out, I've accepted position at another financial institution here in Alaska and my current audit manager job is going to get posted soon. Watch the BOL career connect, IIA & ABA web sites. I told them they are good places to post.
