I have a customer I am wishing to exempt. This account has been on the books since June 2015. They have had over 5 reportable transactions since then. I wish to exempt them.. They show up on my CTR report as of 02/16/2016. My question is do I file the CTR for 02/16/2016 and then exempt them (DOEP) or do I not file the CTR for 02/16/2016 and file the DOEP instead with the 02/16/2016 date on the customer I wish to exempt. I am having a moment. Additionally, They are currently a walk in customer but will soon have their cash picked up by armored car. Really want to exempt them before then if possible. Any guidance.

You could do it either way. DOEP instructions, "for an initial designation, enter the date of the first transaction to be exempted". If you enter 02/16/16, then a CTR would not be required for the 02/16/16 transaction.
