My sweet (RIP) Belle and my silly heeler have been caught in the middle of my bed...with a tiny mystery hole in the comforter, happily pulling out the stuffing and throwing it in the air.

They got caught and gave me a look of..."it wasn't me!!" and when I turned my back to try and keep from cracking up (of which I was not very successful) they went right back to taking turns de-fluffing. laugh!

My Morkie named Zoee loves to lie on her back and let me spin her around on the tile or wood floor. Looks like she is break-dancing!

My little buddie beagle boy Keitaro has not been feeling well and soaked his sleeping pad with puke last night. Thankfully he is not the type of dog to re-eat the puke, he is the first dog with OCD I have ever met, but the big downside of that is cleaning it up at 11:30 at night. Just gave him a very little food for breakfast in hope if giving his little belly a rest.

Me, too. Just make sure he doesn't dehydrate.

My poor 6 month old sheltie pup, Thistle, was spayed on Wednesday - and we had her dew claws removed. Those two incisions are more aggravating to her than the one on her stomach. She's acting really well, just a little irritated at her feet. Wish the breeder had done that at birth.

Skittles, just for my own curiosity, why did you have the dew claws removed?

We had a sheltie before that still had his dew claws. With all of the fur on his legs we would forget they were there sometimes, and they would grow into his leg - and we wanted to prevent this from happening to her. Our other two shelties had theirs removed at birth. I sound like a bad dog parent.

I posted earlier about Beagle who is about 7 months old now. He has miles and miles to roam (8,000+ acre ranch) and he explores a lot and always comes home. I don't believe he has gone further than a mile. My problem now at this time of year is ticks!!! And I HATE creepy crawlers of any kind. Any suggestions on deterring him from bringing them home? We have bought the liquid you put on their back that kills the ticks once they have attached and start to suck the blood, but I would love any ideas on what keeps them from getting on them in the first place - ewwww! He is the first indoor pet we have ever had. Thanks!!!

I think K9 Advantix and Frontline Plus have permethin (sp?) which is a tick and flea repellant.

I use the Preventix collar. We have a ton of ticks, too, thanks to all the deer that live nearby, but this collar does an AMAZING job of keeping them down. It's something like 97%, which means you still find them, but usually they're crawling around, not imbedded. The chemical in the collar freezes their mandibles so they can't bite, and eventually they starve to death (sounds evil, doesn't it?)

Also, recently I've been reading about the EasyDefense Flea and Tick tag, which supposedly uses the body's electromagnetic current to repel ticks, fleas, and mosquitoes. I'm having trouble running down the science behind it, but I understand it's technology that has been more widely accepted in Europe than US. The reviews are great...I'm just nervous to try it (downside if it DOESN'T work).

Tea tree oil (the good stuff, not a cheap spray). Put a few drops in your palm, rub your hands together to warm it up, then run it all over your dog. It's not 100% effective, but it does help.

We're in an area with ticks as well and have found that the Advantix seems to keep them away from the dogs. We have to make sure that we keep up on it and re-apply according to the directions, otherwise the creepy crawlies come inside on the dogs. Yuck!!! I've heard that the tea tree is a good remedy but I've not tried it.

I'm wondering if the tea tree oil would be a good solution for the little humans who bring more creepy crawlies in the house than the dog does. (He's an outside dog 90% of the time)

I have seen a product called Wandercide on Shark Tank. Supposedly a non toxic flea and tick repellant.

16 years ago my now x-wife and I found out it was impossible for either of us to have children and with in a couple months we adopted Angelina our little angel beagle. She has been a constant blessing to us until cancer took her away. She has been with me for so long I do not really remember things with out her. So sad she is gone.

My cat had a pretty sore looking eye last week, so I made a vet appointment and took her yesterday. Somehow her eye was punctured and it was destroyed. This morning she had her eye removed. I just received my call that surgery was done, with no complications. I breathed a sign of relief.
