I am asking all good BOL'ers to keep their fingers crossed for me.

I met the most beautiful young lady last Friday on a short flight, that turned extremely violent (the flight, not the young lady) - she was not a good flier and ended up holding my hand all the way to our destination. We chatted the whole way there, and I was quite taken with her.

Wednesday upon returning home I ordered a small, violet rose plant to her office which was delivered today - so now I am waiting to see if she will call me.

I'm asking you all to think positive thoughts for me!!!

Best of luck, positive thoughts headed your way. And as I just discovered BOLer's positive thoughts are very powerful.

Being from the same town, you were an easy target. I do wish you the best.

Good luck Tex.

But don't give up if she doesn't call you. Give her a chance and then call her. She may have been out sick, the card was lost, the florist's handwriting was awful, etc. If you're really interested, don't leave everything to chance. In fact, she might just be waiting for you to call. Not everybody knows all the rules for each part of the country.

Got my fingers crossed.

"Awwwwwww...." Sorry, I couldn't help myself! I assume that you gave her a number to call? We all certainly wish you the best and hope to hear a wedding announcement next! Keep us posted and let us know if you hear from her.

Oh the excitement of meeting someone new. However, I'm glad I'm married now. Dating was too darn stressful.

I personally had a three strike rule. Anyone can truly be busy twice in a row. On the third try, if I got a "no," I'd put the ball in her court by saying something like, "look, I think you are a very nice person and would like to get to know you better, but you've turned me down now three times. I can't tell if you are just too nice to tell me you are not interested or if you really are busy. Here is my number, if you are interested, give me a call." Of course, if she did not act genuinely disappointed and say things like "please call again" or maybe suggest options on the first two calls, there probably would not be a third call.

Another rule I had--if possible ask the woman out in person rather than over the phone. Her response is easier to read.

One more rule--when I did call to ask a woman out, I got that out up front and did not chat on the phone for 30 minutes beforehand like some lovesick puppy who is trying to get up the nerve or like I was trying to charm myself into a date.

You should buy her one of those souvenir American Airlines (or whichever airline it was) toy planes and give it to her on your first date.

FraudDog, now that's a great idea - I remember know why I love this site so much - there are many quality bankers out there.
My faith is restored (see Private FI thread).

Gad I love how well that "Fake sick during the flight" trick works when you're sitting next to a handsome man! Kudo's for another woman who snagged a winner with it!

(Kidding, but I'm pulling for you! Now can you tell me why, when I'm sitting next to someone during a rough flight, they're always a wierd toothless idiot?)

I hadn't even thought about the possibility of her faking it...hmmmm.
As for my luck, it's usually a poor mother with a screaming child, or even worse - some slob who just really reeks!!!! At least the child I can tune out, but I've yet to be able to tune smells out.

When she says yes, if you need any advice on where to take a girl out on a first date in Austin, send me a PM and we can discuss it (I can get my wife's input). Of course, where you go will depend on whether you want to charm her, impress her, romance her (a little early for that), or just hang out with her.

BTW--what do you envision doing on the date?

See, some of us still have a little romance left.
Good luck, Tex.
