As part of our new account opening process for commercial customers we have typically required a copy of the Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization. We are a multi-state bank and in other states we have typically be able to obtain these documents from the Secretary of State's website. Apparently South Carolina's SOS charges a fee for obtaining those types of documents. Just wondering what other SC banks are using for documentary evidence for CIP at account opening for corporate customers that would avoid an added cost of obtaining these documents from the SOS's website?

Not sure what they do in SC, but in other parts of the nation, they require the customer to provide them.
