We've sent copies of SARS for years to NYSBD and, now, DFS at their One State Street, NY, NY Address, Criminal Investigations Bureau. Recently someone asked which NYS law required that we send the DFS a separate copy. We couldn't find anything. Help!

I hate to suggest the obvious, but have you contacted DFS to ask them (1) whether you should be sending them; and (2) on what authority are you required to?

Tress - Unless specifically requested by the DFS, we don't mail them hard copy SARs. Follow John's advice.

Bump. I just took over a position at a small local bank here in NY. My predecessor was also mailing SAR filings over to DFS Criminal Investigations. Is this warranted via any particular statute?
