When we have a transaction that requires us to complete the CTR, can we tell the customer that we are completing this form or is it forbidden?

You can tell them - especially since you'll be needing a lot of information on them (i.e. occupation, social security #, birthdate, DL information). It's the suspicious activity reports that you can't reveal.

Agreed. And while some believe that disclosing this is contributing to structuring if the transaction is changed, I disagree. As noted, you could have a SAR as a result. Some banks have a pamphlet that they provide to answer CTR questions. This provides consistent responses.
