OK, what's a "pivot?"

I generally like that Google seems to learn about how I search, but searching on "pivot" got me Excel info and searching on "pivot barn" got me some mirrors at the Pottery Barn.

CULady - me too! My daughter and her family recently moved and I was standing nearby when they brought a sofa out to our truck... and that was exactly what I said!!!

Anywhere I want to be
This reminded me of some conversations with East coast city coworkers coming to rural mid-America.

I don't know which story to tell you first, Excess....the one where my mother, knowing how I love to get a tomato right off the vine, asked if there was much of a growing season here in the Midwest or the one where I drew a picture of a combine with a green highlighter so that one of my co-workers could tell me what in the world the thing was. They were everywhere! All at once!

It's been a fun few decades here in the land of beautiful dirt, but obviously there is still more to learn. Good discussion in the HMDA thread.... and I appreciated the answers here, too. And I got to watch some Friends on youtube!

If you time a pivot just right you can get a free car/truck wash. smirk

I like your combine story Cornfed. I grew up in Chicago, and had no idea what a combine was or that such a machine existed until I went to college. Thankfully my banking career has been educational. I've now ridden in combines, learned about beans and wheat and corn, and have visited a bunch of hog confinement buildings.

And you can pick a tomato in my backyard.

I love the geographic diversity of our BOLers.

In the thread where we try to determine what a pivot is, someone comments on an earworm.

A frickin earworm.

Don't worry folks, I already googled it.

I think either Malathion or Sevin will kill those earworms.

Way back when I remember asking my fiancée's Grandpa about the rocks in the flower bed at the farm. Turns out they were cow patties he'd collected to fertilize Grandma's flower beds.

Both my husband and I would tell you it wasn't always easy transitioning me from City Girl - Air Force Brat into a farmers wife.

This was all pre FarmersOnly.com. (in case you had already managed to stop the jingle in your head once - here it is again)

Funny story. My mother is a Farmers Insurance agent. When she told me she had signed up for online dating at farmersonly.com I thought that was a very obscure dating site for only Farmers Insurance agents. Somewhat limited options I would think!! Took me a while before I realized it was just for country people! laugh

Just to give you an idea of how big farming is in our community, the biggest school club at our high school is "Future Farmers of America". Every year they sponsor a "Drive your Tractor to School Day". We would have about 100 giant tractors in the parking lot. Traffic that day was horrible...

That's awesome! I don't think our county school has done that...but what a cool idea if you could let it go for the day!

We've got a group that ride their horses to school on the last day every year. It's been a tradition for years!

When I was in high school one kid wore overalls and drove his tractor to the prom. It was hilarious!
