We are in the process of acquiring another bank and we have identified a number of duplicate account numbers between the banks. We would like to give a gift card to the affected customers as we change their account numbers if they bring in their old checks to shred. Would this be consider a Bonus that would need to be reported on a 1099-Misc?

Looking at $100 for check and $50 for Savings booklets. However we have other potential bonuses they could participate in like referring new customers that is not account driven as well.

Yes, if you give them $600 or more.
