What do you like/hate about this country and the way it's being run? Have recent events made you think twice about living in this country or are you perfectly happy? Who's got a bone to pick? Let the frustrations come out... and remember no subject is taboo here.

To rip off Churchill:

"America is the worst country in the world, except for all the others."

Personally, I love America, but for those who don't, where are you going to go that's better?

I hate small dogs. You know the ones that are so small you think they're some type of vermin so you set up traps? Boy they annoy me.

I hate it that we've become the land of the offended. It's often difficult to express opinions without being personally attacked by someone with different views.

I agree. The grass is always greener. Except, Ironically, in Greenland... which is covered in ice most of the time. I'm kinda tired of viewing these serious posts (long time viewer, first time poster). I have enough stress in my life without having to get fumed about anothers opinion. I'm going to the beach after work today...

Which is ironic, that Iceland is green or that Greenland is icy?

I can't figure out how a conservative can apply shampoo liberally.

There was a line on a JAG repeat I was watching...

"We're the good guys. We didn't get that way by shooting first."

I love being the good guys. I hate being the bad guys, and to the world, that's what we are. We can be the good guys again, but it will take some time.

You know what I really DON'T like about this country? We don't have an effective interstate transit system... Yeah, we can go Greyhound, or jet around, but nothing like the bullet trains in Japan (yeah, I know Japan is smaller). I think it's be great to one day have something like that so our wonderful country could be more readily explored by people. I think we only see what's right around us... not how big and diverse this country is.. in so many ways.

Easy, we lather, rinse, repeat, over and over again until the bottle is empty and then complain about our expenses because if we shampoo liberally, the bottle is empty every time we wash our hair.

I don't know - I'm flying cross country for $160 in a few weeks. Sounds pretty effective (and efficient) to me.

First, campaign on the fact that shampoo is a right, not a privilege. Raise taxes to subsidize shampoo purchases by low and middle-income voters. Establish preferences to ensure that politically-favored groups will have greater access to the shampoo. Obtain judicial rulings finding that faith-based organizations cannot provide shampoo using public funds or in public spaces, if they believe conditioner to also be appropriate.

That would be nice. I remember taking the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto moving at about 200 mph. The best part was that you could hardly tell. Very smooth ride and relatively cheap. Yes Jokerman got a good deal but when it costs me over $300 for a flight that lasts 45 minutes I wouldn't mind having that fast train instead.

Things I love about this country:

My ability to own a home and call it mine and live in it as long as I want to and not be kicked out in the middle of the night because the lease expired on the land it is built on.

My children do not have to worry about quota system based on race to get them into Colleges and Med. Schools.

The ability to voice my opinion without fearing my house being broken into, my wife being raped, and my home razed to the ground.

The respect for law and order, not the sight of a police officer that comes to investigate your home invasion and you realize the cop is actually the guy who broke into your home.

Things I hate about this country:

People who have had it so good for long don’t know what it feels like coming to this country.

People who base their opinions on hearsay and hate other people so much that they would actually take up arms against this country.

People who use the protections provided by the laws in this country to hurt it’s image and thereby aid and abett the enemies.

Thank you Alien! We all need to hear those things sometimes. We really don't think about how good we've got it, do we?!

Pardon me? I guess you aren't white then? There are way too may unoffical quotas on letting minorities into these schools, and there are so many exclusive scholarship problems that if you are female or a minority you will find them. But being a white male, I felt very discriminated against when looking to go to college and pay for it myself. I was amazed at how many if you aren't a caucasian male scholarships there were, and how few in comparison were for everyone regardless of race, creed, and sex.
