Does anyone know what the lenders responsibility is in regards to vetting whether an appraiser is in good standing for VA transactions?
For non VA loans we utilize an AMC to provide appraisal services and we perform a due diligence review on the AMC. However, for VA loans the appraiser is assigned by the VA and no one I have called there can answer if and what their process is for verifying the appraiser is in good standing.
Any direction on this topic would be helpful.
