The SAR Advisory Key Terms was updated in September. It lists words and acronyms which banks should include in SAR narratives wherever appropriate based on specific subject matter guidance which FinCEN has issued in prior years.

Note that in many cases the specific terms or acronyms have no parallel in the SAR's check boxes. Including them in the SAR narrative facilitates "data mining" where FinCEN attempts to identify SARs involving a specific topic.

Ken, thank you for posting this. I've seen some of these in individual advisories but there were some I don't recall and this list will be helpful.

Save the URL for the link above. Whenever they "update" the list they just recycle the same URL.

FinCEN: If you are watching, this is a pretty valuable piece of guidance that is largely unknown to SAR filers. It only occurred to me that it had been updated when I was listening to one of your own discuss 2016-A003 yesterday. I can find it because I know the correct search terms, but do not find it on the list of advisories on your web site.
