What kind of pets does everyone have? We have two pigs, two bearded dragons, and a guinea pig currently. What are your favorite things about your different pets?

I have a 23 year old African gray parrot. It's fun having a live interactive pet!

The person living in my house that I'm related to by marriage has sugar gliders.

Don't have anything other than dogs or a cat myself; but my niece used to have a ferrett, Weazie. Weazie used to play with one of their smaller dogs and it was adorable.
Ric - we looked at sugar gliders once (not seriously); however they are nocturnal (as you know) and messy.

She hasn't let them out of their cage to roam free yet so any mess is contained luckily.

My future son in law keeps several types of reptiles (no snakes allowed, however.) He keeps a couple outside in cages as they are too large to keep in the house. I think they are Asian Water Monitors, and one is prob about 6+ ft long.

I have a 23 year old African gray parrot. It's fun having a live interactive pet! A former teacher of mine has one of these and posts videos on Facebook a lot. It's SO cool. I'd definitely look into one if we had the time to dedicate to it. The person living in my house that I'm related to by marriage has sugar gliders. I used to want these... I'd probably think about it again if it weren't for the pigs!

Three cats, three dogs, two parakeets. The parakeets won't sit on our finger or shoulder, and they won't talk but they imitate our Chihuahua barking.

Many years ago I had an iguana that grew to about 3 feet. He was not friendly at all and would wack you with his tail and try to bite you if you tried to pick him up. My mother was the only person he liked and would let handle him. He escaped his aquarium a couple of times and greeted my father at the top of the stairs - which resulted in my father staying downstairs until the iguana was put back in his cage.

Currently: 4 cats, 2 dogs, 3 horses, and a marine fish tank. Historically: more cats, dogs, horses, and fish. Also, ferrets, leopard geckoes (a breeding trio - I sold babies to local dealers), a rescued iguana who was missing most of her toes, 2 corn snakes (briefly), turtles, and a dove.
And a partridge in a pear tree. [not really]

1 dog, 2 barn cats, 6 chickens, 2 donkeys. The donkeys are snugglers, but they're also totally into eating poison oak, so it's accept donkey hugs at your own risk...

2 dogs, 1 cat, 3 horses and a million chickens! Well maybe not a million but there are a lot. Oh and 3 fish in the boy's room. The boys wanted lizards and I compromised on fish. We need to ride and I need eggs...

1 dog, 1 cat and 2 teenagers. The teens are the scariest and most smelly of the pets.

5 dogs and 2 horses. Had a legless lizard but it passed away.

Well, you'd think that if it looks like a snake and acts like a snake and moves like a snake that it would be a snake but the lizard has a tail that is 2/3 of it's body. Bottom line - it looked like a snake and no one would think otherwise unless you were familiar with snakes and could see that difference.

RR Becca, tell me about this marine tank! I have a 300g display (650 total gallon system) that I am converting from a FOWLR to a mixed reef. It is a fun hobby.

Unfortunately I don't have time to be much of a hobbyist anymore, and am actually getting ready to downsize. I've had a reef tank of some incarnation for nearly 20 years, the most recent (and current) one being a 75g. I quit actively collecting/propagating soft corals about 5 years ago, and am down just a handful of fish & inverts that have managed to outlive everything else and survive my recent gross neglect. They will be getting a new home in either my neighbors' 100g system or in my brand new 32g nano tank (my husband thinks he's surprising me with it for Christmas) while I'm on vacation next week.
