We have just discovered that a customer has been using a stolen social security number. She has had a savings account here for just over 10 years. All other issues aside, how would one figure out a dollar amount to report on a SAR in this situation?

I would either 1) include the amount of every transaction for the past 10 years (doesn't seem realistic); or 2) check the amount unknown involved and describe that the customer had been using a stolen SSN for the past 10 years in the narrative.

I would go with no amount as well as long as the transactions themselves did not seem suspicious.
