debit card returns? We have a situation where it appears a customer was processing 'fake' returned merchandise to his employer and crediting his own debit card for the 'return'. Embezzling, in other words.

I have never heard of anyone doing this (in quantity) before and we only monitor ACH originators for returns.

Nope. He was just plain crediting his own personal debit card for 'pretend' return of auto parts.

Of course we will close him. My question was a bit larger...about monitoring for a lot of debit card returns on consumer accounts.

If the electronic credits to the account exceeded a certain amount over the course of a week, it might trigger an alert with my monitoring software, but that's about it.

We do look for POS returns and try to match them to original purchases. We don't do it on everyone, just when it pops up due to larger dollar POS credits. (meaning they'd have to do a few before we would see it.) We also look for this more in our prepaid line of business, not so much in regular consumer checking.

How does it 'pop up' Frog Lady? Do you have an alert scenario for this in one of your systems?

we have a scenario set up in our system. We also will sometimes catch it while doing reviews of other alerts.
