I have observed that bank personnel sometimes use their personal accounts to test new products, such as remote deposit capture, etc. This seems risky to me but I haven't been able to find anything that specifically spells out why it's not a good idea. Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

We have test accounts set up for the bank. We also use employees as part of the trial before the product goes to market.

We use an actual test account 99% of the time and I say 99% because in some cases you need a live account. Just last week I used my HSA account as a test account. Typically I would not do this but we needed to test bill pay and debit card access; which could not be done in a test environment. It was heavily documented and had another employee verify everything that was entered and tested on the system.

We have used employee accounts in the past. The main reason is sometimes test accounts do not always work the same as live accounts. Employees have been receptive to the idea and generally give good feedback to the process.
