Daylight Saving Time's potential to save energy comes primarily from its effects on residential lighting, which consumes about 3.5% of electricity in the United States and Canada. Delaying the nominal time of sunset and sunrise reduces the use of artificial light in the evening and increases it in the morning.
...and yet my electricity rates are going up because conservation "has led to reduced revenue streams." Thank you local utility company.

Can't get out to YouTube, any summary available? It's a movie trailer about daylight savings/leap forward. Only the characters are deeply affected by the time change: heading out to brunch and hour late and not being able to order off the menu, determining the time of death for someone, and other shenanigans. There's guns and a rocket launcher, some lab romance, all the crazy things that happen after the time change.
