The new trailer for the remake of "It" was released this morning. Looks awesome!! If you're not afraid of clowns (never understood that phobia), google or YouTube it and check it out.

I may watch it, but my husband thinks that Pennywise should only be Tim Curry. 'It' is one of my son's favorite books - right behind 'The Stand'.

Tim Curry will always be Pennywise to me, although I'm excited to see this movie! I love the book (have read it twice), and I'm hoping the remake isn't a let down.

I loved this book... should read it again since it's been a while. And I agree... no replacing Tim Curry.

sadly, I read the expanded version of The Stand, 1,600+ pages...yawn...

I still contend Christine is his best book ever...

no aversion to clowns, but also not a fan of remakes. Just like the Shining remake fell short of the original, It remake will also fall short

Since the remake is of a made-for-TV version of the book, I'm hoping there's an exception here and the movie is much better. I liked Tim Curry - who wouldn't?! - but was never that partial to him.

Christine was an excellent book. After reading Pet Sematary - I had a nightmare.

Happy - I believe the Shining remake (which I didn't see) followed the book more closely than the original.

but it had the guy from "Wings" in it, so I could never see him as the villain, always the goofy brother from that show...

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
The IT tv mini-series had excellent children actors and well-known adults however the adults didn't do a very good job of acting in my opinion. I thought it was somewhat forced at times and just not very scary. This new one appears to ratchet up the fear factor. Hoping this one will be better than the last. The book ending was disappointing from my perspective, hopefully the big reveal at the end of the 2nd movie will be more frightening.

Agree 100%! At the time it aired I thought it was pretty good, nothing exceptional but anything Stephen King is enjoyable for me. Watched it again a few months ago and thought wow, those adult actors were worse than I remembered.

Ditto. I ended up buying the DVD. Aside from the memories of watching the mini-series when it first aired, it was a waste of money. frown

I think I will watch the remake, I don't remember being that in love with the movie. Now, The Shining, Carrie, The Green Mile and Misery are off limits for a remake.

I have this same issue with "The Woman in Black." Like, what is Harry Potter doing there? Can't he just use magic?

The already did remakes of Carrie and The Shining. Not as good as the originals. On a side note Sissy Spacek was born one town over in Quitman, TX.

My favorite book(s) of King would either be The Stand or the Gunslinger series. No way I could pick a favorite between the two.

I agree ^^^ that I'm hoping this remake is an exception to the rule. While I do enjoy the original series, I feel like there's a great deal more to be expected if it's going to the book any justice at all.

And apparently I'm the odd-ball out in the general conversation. I though Curry was okay as Pennywise, but I certainly don't see him as irreplaceable in the role.

all these remakes...pretty soon they'll be looking ot remake Rocky Horror, Point Break, The Longest Yard, and some other notable movies that the original can't be topped. I suppose as long as they don't start making TV series in to movies, i'll be okay. I'd hate to see great 70s series like Starsky & Hutch, Charlie's Angels, or CHiPs ruined on the big screen.

I am shocked that no one has said that Maximum Overdrive is the best Stephen King movie. Emilio Estevez and possessed big rigs, what could be better?!
