Anyone going to the Marquis CRA/Fair Lending conference in Fort Worth in a couple of weeks? Anyone have any good suggestions on things to see or do in Fort Worth?

Sundance Square and Downtown area - lots of good restaurants & clubs
Ft Worth Zoo is pretty nice
Botanical Gardens
Ft Worth Stockyards
attend Rangers game in nearby Arlington
Several breweries in Ft. Worth - just google
Also quite a few wineries in the DFW area

I grew up in Ft. Worth, most of my family is there, go say hi to them for me!

The above are all good suggestions. You can also do the Trinity Trails if you like walking/running, follows the Trinity River through all of the city, eventually you will be able to follow all the way to Dallas. Ranger game is a good suggestion, and as much as I dislike the cowboys, tour JerryWorld (better known as AT&T Stadium), it has a huge wow effect. If there is a concert at Bass Symphony Hall I would suggest going, it is well worth it.

this is a good site as well:

I'll definitely have to do some of that. I've lived in and visited some of the BBQ centers of the world already - NC, SC, KC, Memphis. I do love me some good BBQ. What would you recommend in Fort Worth?

BBQ: I love Angelo's, one of my uncle's thinks Cousin's is the best, another says Sonny Bryan, my Dad would say David's (although David's is in Arlington, not Ft Worth).

You should also try Kincaid's on Camp Bowie for the best burger you may ever eat.

As you know, barbecue is subjective. Cousin's is good, and I'd also put Billy's Oak Acres and Woody Creek up there.

You should also try to eat at one of Tim Love's restaurants if you have time - Lonesome Dove is awesome for a 'fancier' dinner ( exotic meats a specialty), the Woodshed Smokehouse is good for a more casual atmosphere, and the burger joint is the Love Shack. He has barbecue on his menus, but I wouldn't say it's a 'real' barbecue joint.

If you're going to Arlington for a Ranger's game, you should strongly consider Babe's Chicken. The best home cookin - pick your chicken (huge servings) served with family style sides of mashed potatoes, corn, and beans. Plus salad and biscuits. Desserts are delicious too, not that you'll have any room!

Babe's is awesome, but if you are going to Arlington, I would suggest head a little down Park Rowe and stop in for the 1/2 brisket 1/2 ground beef burger at Chop House Burgers...slow smoked brisket, then ground and mixed with beef, then made into patties and broiled...

It does sound like there might be some good eats in store. The Rangers are at home, so I might see if some other conference attendees want to catch a game - I'm not a huge baseball guy. I know the Marquis folks have some activities planned for the conference too. Thanks for all the tips.

Y'all watch out for bOaty - she's deadly with a six-shooter. Watched her take down a co-worker in cold blood last night.

Haha, he couldn't get his gun out of that holster to save his life! laugh I did however suffer a minor bull riding accident. No body told me I had to let go when I got thrown off! blush

I ended up catching a Rangers game, had a great time. Didn't get to hit up a good BBQ spot though.
