Any help appreciated!

A client contacted our institution after visiting a rate shopping site and finding an old HELOC special we ran a couple of years ago. We did not place, or pay for, the advertising. Our current offers are listed on our site. We are viewing this as being equivalent to someone bringing in an old print ad or news story, and asking us to honor the offer.

We will ask the third party site to remove the offer, but realize it may not happen. Are we correct in explaining to the customer that information about an old offer has been scraped by a third party site, and we will not honor it?

It's a good reason to put expiration dates on all special offers on the internet. But yes, you do not control things posted on other than your website or a site on which you are paying to advertise.
