Somewhere on a beach
The FIG shows the zip code of the property as a nine figure field. Can the +4 number be left blank or will we have to determine this number for reporting purposes? I don't believe that the majority of customers actually know what their +4 code is.

Look at page 97 of the August 2017 version of the FIG. It states:

1) The required format for Zip Code is 12345-1010 or 12345 or NA, and it cannot be left blank.

So the Zip+4 extension is not mandatory.
