Someone just recommended this to me, she said it's the best book she ever read.

I just started 1Q84. I'm hoping I like it, it definitely gets mixed reviews.

Finished this yesterday. While I won't say it's the "best" book I've ever read, I do highly recommend it. The ending felt a bit rushed, but overall it was well written and is a very good story. And those who know me might be surprised that I a) read this book and b) really liked this book. So, that says a lot about it.

Now I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale.

Oh, I liked Handmaid's Tale.

I quit on 1Q84 for now. If I start dreading 'having' to read a book, that's not a good sign.

OK... admittedly, I picked up (in the airport) Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham. I knew it would be a quick read, which is perfect for vacation. However, I did not have as much read time as I had hoped.... so now that I'm back home and have had a jam-packed schedule, finishing the last 1/3rd has not happened. But, once I pick it up it will go fast.

Not his best book either... Very clunky... It's almost like he didn't have enough to write 1 novel, so he used the same character to write a few short stories... without a lot of depth.

Certainly not the worst book I've ever read though...

Just finished The Drifter by Nick Petrie. Not bad but nothing too exciting. Starting Up Country by Nelson Demille, Read The Talbot Odyssey by Demille previously which was really good.

The Lost City of the Monkey God - Douglas Preston

Someone else mentioned it above, wow, a great book about discovering a "lost" civilization. True story, and I'm struggling to put it down.

I have a good one for my audible buddies. On Audible channels, there's an audio doc called Ponzi Supernova about Bernie Madoff's scheme. It's fascinating. Lots of interviews with Bernie as well as former inmates etc. It's only 6 short episodes but it's fascinating.

Just finished Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. This was based on historical events that I was not aware of. Somehow the shipment of orphans across the country to be possibly become indentured servants was not covered in my high school history class.
