Where I am supposed to be
I have been an auditor or a bank examiner in regulatory compliance for the last 13 years. On Tuesday of this week I accepted an offer to work in our Corporate Compliance 2nd line function to build a risk and control framework. While I am excited for this new opportunity and think it is a great fit, I am nervous as I have never been involved on that side of the table and actually built something. I have only ever looked at what others have built to see if there were any gaps or weaknesses.

I will also truly miss the people I have been working with in audit. I have brought on most of the people on the team and watched it grow during my time here.

Prayers for peace during the transition would be greatly appreciated.

I find when building something it is best to get the biggest hammer you can find.

Thank you all. I appreciate the encouragement. I am looking forward to the adventure. I just need to trust in myself and my abilities. It is so nice to have a forum with people who "get it."

Congrats PP!!!!! You will do awesome. I worked on the Retail side of things, in a compliance related position. There were moments of weirdness, but overall it was a great experience.

Having been on the "Other Side' is probably one of the best things that could happen. You will be amazed by your insight.

Use your skills to try and make the process transparent to the user - they do their job and the systems provide the compliance. That way, they will be responsible for (selling/processing/customers, etc) and based on their input, the system will lead them down the road to correctness.

All this time, I've read this thread title as "New York Adventure" and didn't venture in...:D!

Congrats, Purple Dood! You will be fine and it may just be the 'change of pace' you need smile

Thanks again for all the support. It is nice hearing from people who understand. I also appreciate the laughs. I had 1 New York adventure with Mrs. PP and I do not need any others. Crowds and I do not get along. eek

PP - while I don't like crowds either - I loved New York and had a blast. Even riding the subway didn't bother me.

Maybe the bums should return the favor.

Having been on both sides myself, I can say I definitely prefer being on the build it side than the audit it side.
