When denying a request for limited credit experience, what would you consider to be "limited"? Date opened? Number of trade lines? Underwriters are interpreting this differently and I want to develop a consistent definition.

Mel, that probably should be dictated by your own bank's credit policy, and based on management's risk tolerances. It could also be identified on the amount and type of credit requested.

I've seen a few banks with "similar credit history to the amount, terms and conditions requested." (meaning they do not want to be the first on the block to lend to a person.)

I've also seen banks that have well-defined thin file/limited credit history definitions based on the number of trades lines, the age of the oldest trade line, and the diversity (revolving, closed-end, etc.) of trade lines.
