Driving through Kentucky and Tennessee on our way to and from Orlando reminded me that those are two of the prettiest states in the country, especially with the trees starting to change.

Western Mississippi is shockingly pretty as well.

Today is my FRIDAY.... Thank god!!! What a couple of weeks.

PTO goals.... gut the basement. All the carp the kids left when they moved out.. .GONE. All the carp I hang on to 'just in case'... GONE. All the furniture we hung to for the kids when they moved out and then didn't want because they wanted their own junk... GONE. (By the way, my first home was furnished with my parents leftovers for a LONG time. In fact, still have some of it.) The rest of the carp.... GONE.

So I guess I get to try my hand as an appliance repair person. Less than 3 year old, name brand oven just suddenly quits working. So irritating. I have 3 teenagers and the holidays coming up. I don't have time for a busted oven.

Frog Lady, I swear by appliance maintenance programs. We bought all our appliances at Sears with their maintenance coverage. Included is an annual cleaning and check-up. All parts and labor are covered on that and any repairs or replacements. This year we've had them out to fix the washer twice, the latest included a very expensive computer part. The ice catcher on the door cracked so we got a new one. The dryer and dishwasher were cleaned and checked too. it was definitely worth the price.

Basil, can you come by and help me let go of the carp in my basement? Today is the semi-annual large item pick-up in our neighborhood. You can put anything, except electronics and flammable liquids, out at the curb for pick-up. I looked at stuff in the basement, and just couldn't part with it yet. We have the 35 year old baby furniture that's not made to current standards. I have my old living room lamps from the 80s and mom's old lamps from the 50's! I have a headboard and footboard from a bed that was my in-laws that my wife won't part with, even though we've never used it in 38 years of marriage. We've always just stored it and moved it from house to house. I have to start unloading soon.

MBH - my husband is working on getting rid of things that he has kept for decades. I think cleaning out his parents house (we bought it and renovated it - and got rid of 3 large dumpsters worth of junk) and my sister and brother recently doing that to my parents house made him think. He doesn't want me or his daughter to have to do that with his stuff.

Must be a large aquarium - I have seen carp that weighed 60 lbs.
