For motor vehicle repossessions -- if you have documentation proving that the borrower is deceased, do you still have to perform a DOD check to see if they are a servicemember? Our resolution group is doing a check on every borrower and but I think they could eliminate those checks since the SCRA would no longer protect a deceased servicemember.

The SCRA may not protect a deceased servicemember, but state law may. In my state (CA) there are additional protections for servicemembers who died while on active duty.
