I would appreciate it if you would stand completely still, broadside, this weekend..............about 50 yards out would be great too.

I've seen a lot of deer lying very still on the side of the highway lately. They should be pretty easy to hunt, Peepers.

Dead deer, totaled car frown
Thankfully all airbags did their job and she wasn't injured.

one state over
I managed to get a buck in MN during opener ... now I am working on getting one in WI with a bow. The deer are not cooperating, however.

Our archery season ended last Saturday. We have several bucks coming into our hunting area (as seen on our trail cameras and the active scrapes) but none while we were hunting. We had a nice 6 point stop and stand broadside at about 20 yards on Saturday - but it was on the road and we were in the car - about a mile from where we park to walk into our stand. Rifle season starts the Monday after Thanksgiving but the rut will be winding down by then.

My son shot his first turkey a few weeks ago - since the deer weren't cooperating, he called turkeys most of the morning. When we got up to leave at lunchtime, he spotted two turkeys just a few yards from our stand and took one with his crossbow.

Any where but work
Kansas here, had a close call with a really nice white tail buck this morning, in my truck. The rut is still full on here; the bucks are ignoramuses. Just a few more miles down the road another nice buck was resting in a field with big round bales and a doe was "hiding" from him two bales away.

No lease, no more Texas land. I get to watch the bucks that show up behind my fence on the trail cameras. I'm still not convinced the HOA wouldn't hammer me for taking one down in the backyard.

Good news - We have deer coming into our pasture

Bad news - County built a high school within earshot of our property.

out of the frying pan...
There's a shooting preserve across the road from our house. Therefore, as of two weeks ago, all of the deer have moved into the pasture with our horses.
