At the onset of bankruptcy notification is the institution required to continue to report to the credit bureau until discharged? or should the reporting be turned off then turned back on once the bankruptcy is discharged?

Thanks!

Contact your credit bureau representative and get a copy of the Credit Reporting Resource Guide. It contains a whole series of Q&As on reporting accounts involved in bankruptcy. Much will depend on what chapter they filed under and whether or not the loan was included in the bankruptcy petition, etc. There is not one simple answer.
