I hate the concept of the smart phone. I'm convinced it is making society dumber. If the bank didn't pay for me to have emails on my phone I would dump this sucker tomorrow.

KEEP IT UP APPLE! Keep slowing down my iPhone 5s around Christmas in a c r a p p y attempt to get me to buy a new model. KEEP IT UP! I'll launch this piece out of a skeet house and unload, then go buy myself a nice flip phone!
Oh, so THAT'S what's going on?!?! I thought maybe it was my refusal to load the most recent update (or 3) because they are always full of bugs.

And the updates are getting perpetually larger so that you eventually have no room for photos or videos, just the updates, which in turn forces you to either
1.) Buy a larger gig phone 2.) Buy iCloud storage 3.) Buy 1 and 2

I buy the largest gig phone available any time I get a new one - I detest having to delete pictures and apps due to space. Perhaps you can answer me this, since my icloud storage is too full to create a backup of data (it reminds me every few minutes), can I turn off certain things that are backed up to leave room for the backups or am I forced to buy more storage?

1.) Buy a larger gig phone 2.) Buy iCloud storage 3.) Buy 1 and 2 Since you brought this up. My wife and I both have iphones. We use icloud storage, etc. I have 400+ more photos on my phone than my wife but her icloud storage is full and I am only about half. I have done everything to try to figure it out (except go to Apple store since we don't have one around). I have no clue why her storage is so much more than mine other than they are forcing us to buy more icloud storage!

It's a sham! We bought a terabyte drive and transfer everything off once they get full.

There is a easy way to not delete pictures it is called us a decent camera. And yes, I have a iPhone 7 plus and the photos are marginal at best.

I hate that I can't delete the standard apps that I NEVER use (stocks, news, wallet, iBooks, find friends, watch, etc...). You shouldn't be forced to use space for those if you have no intention of ever using them.

Norm: I agree what a scam, iphone always messes around when they launch a new one. My 5s got so slow when the 7's were released last year.

Label me a theorist, but I hope everyone knows those things listen to everything you say, not to mention the face cameras. I can't tell you how many times I've been talking to my wife about [something random product] that we've never searched for online and next thing you know FB or Amazon is suggesting it.
Apple likely has pictures of 80% of America sitting on the pot playing Angry Birds.

I'd suggest doing the updates as they also patch vulnerabilities in the operating system. You can customize what you want uploaded to the cloud, you just have to go to settings and click on your apple ID, and then iCloud. You can also delete things from there.

I saw a meme a while back to the effect of 'In the 70's everyone was afraid of the government wiretapping their homes. 2017 (with picture of Echo Dot or some other voice link): "Hey, Wiretap, do dogs laugh?"'

You can customize what you want uploaded to the cloud, you just have to go to settings and click on your apple ID, and then iCloud. You can also delete things from there. That would require actually knowing my apple ID.

I have an android.......i was trying the other day to delete some of the stock apps....it gave me warnings...so i stopped......is it actually not possible to delete them? If the apps came preloaded on your phone they typically cannot be removed (maybe if you rooted the phone but there are other issues associated with that).

If the apps came preloaded on your phone they typically cannot be removed (maybe if you rooted the phone but there are other issues associated with that). The best you can do in those cases (without rooting) is to disable the apps you don't use so they won't run in the background, slowing your phone and using data.

That is what I think we will need to do. Just buy a drive and transfer pics to the drive and delete from icloud.

I know how to disable apps (and I've done it a few times), but have no idea what "rooting" is. I take it, that's not what I do for my favorite team?
