Any Bitcoin investors in here? I've just started researching it and it's an interesting product. Almost at $10K now.

I think there were a couple of previous threads about bitcoin and investing, possibly TJ bought one to try it at some point? You could probably do a search and find it...I'm too lazy to even try and search.

Conceivably, and I fully expect a pull-back from the current $11K level, but after some research I threw a few bucks in a little while back so I'll let it ride and see what happens. Also purchased a little Ethereum so we'll see what happens there as well.

Problem is, if I made a lot of money I would only believe I was lucky, not smart. However, if I lost a lot of money it would be pretty easy to believe I was stupid, not just unlucky.

Interesting topic.

However I am confused with your timeline as to when you first invested. Yesterday you said you had just started to research it, today you said you invested a while back. Just a month ago it was around $6100-quite a jump in a short time.

TB, I looked at it a while ago, let it go and then started to look into it with more earnest over the last few days. I've only gotten into it this week (probably at close to the top of the market if my investing history remains the same - and apparently the same as Happy's) but I've only invested what I'm prepared to lose, which ain't much, lol.

Smart way to invest. Too many people make bad financial decisions (invest irresponsibly) then blame others or walk away from their responsibilities when it bites them.

I invested in .5 bitcoin - cost me about $400 I believe. I actually did it to check out the process for buying and selling - CIP of the exchange, restrictions on purchase amounts, ability to buy anonymously, etc. for my own knowledge to assist in my job. I got out after it lost about half of it's value and lost $200. If I still had that 1/2 bitcoin today, it would be worth about $5k. It's very volatile, so investing only what you are prepared to loose is a good strategy and knowing when to get out is tricky. More like Vegas than Wall Street.

Did anyone catch The Big Bang Theory last night? I won't spoil it, but it was about the guys tracking down an old computer that had bitcoin on it. Pretty good episode.

Saw this on Marketwatch today and thought of MB-You still in ?

The price of bitcoin plunged about 14% — more than $2,500 — Tuesday night after cryptocurrency trading site Coinbase said it would allow its customers to buy and sell its rival offshoot currency, bitcoin cash.

In a matter of hours, the price of bitcoin BTCUSD, -2.72% dropped from $18,125 to as low as $15,578. Bitcoin later rallied somewhat and was trading within a $1,000-range; it was last at $16,875 Tuesday night. Bitcoin futures BTCF8, -8.13% on the CME Group’s Chicago Mercantile Exchange were last trading at $17,425, off more than $700 from the afternoon. Bitcoin cash, meanwhile, rallied more than 50% to all-time highs above $3,300. It was last trading at $3,303, according to CoinMarketCap.

I have been messing around with bitcoin a lot lately. I just in the past month or so I have made roughly $500. But as someone already said, don't invest more than you can stand to lose. There are two sides to the bitcoin thing. It will be a way of the future, or it is just another fad investment that will tank. I for one do not necessarily think bitcoin is the future, but I think there is something to Crypto Currency. In my opinion, I feel bitcoin will keep going up until a better alternative comes around.
