Just inhaled the new Nora Roberts "Year One". It was very different but I liked it a lot. Not saying much as I pretty much love her writing.

Santa Claus brought me Ron Chernow's new biography of U. S. Grant. It's nearly 1000 pages, so it could take me a while to get through. I haven't made it through the introduction yet, but now that our house is back to just the two of us after the holiday, I should get some reading time it.

One of the few things I like about winter is the enjoyment of a good book by the fireplace when it's below freezing and snowy outside.

I am re-reading the game of thrones books waiting for the new book or the new season, whichever comes first.

Man, I was saddened to hear that Sue Grafton died. She was one of my favorite authors.

SF - my husband read that one and said it was quite thought provoking. He recommended it to my son.

I know. Robert Parker, Dick Francis, and Sue Grafton were three of the series authors I read a lot of at one point, and they're all gone now. frown

ATTN DRESDEN FILE FANS

A collection of Dresden short stories will be released on June 5.

I'd rather have another full book, but I'll settle for this for now. ( I feel like since he got engaged / married, his writing has slowed way down..... )

Just started Man in the High Castle. It will be interesting to compare to the Amazon series.

My wife received a coffee table book a few years back called "504 Must Read Book." includes many of the old classics as well as some more recent additions. I am going to start working my way through these. First up is HG Wells "The Invisible Man."

Don't get too excited - only one story is new. All the rest are previously published works from other collections.

Good to know, Happy. I just started and don't read much - limit myself to 1-2 chapters every night.

Ugh, I hate when authors do this, it just feels like a money grab.

Our library book club is reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman, the one with the author's preferred text, which is apparently 10,000 more words than the previously released version. While I don't consider this to be my regular genre I am enjoying it, which really is the point of being in a book club, in my opinion. I know my husband and son enjoyed the (slightly shorter) book, but neither one seemed to like the TV adaptation.

and I thought this was one of the worst written books I'd ever read. I think the only other author I've recently read that I think is just as over rated is Cormac McCarthy
