Has the NFIP been re-authorized by Congress. I now today is the deadline to re-authorize the NFIP.

Not sure if I missed something. Also, if a community that was scheduled to be Suspended on Feb. 2, 2018, but
was re-instated prior to Feb. 2, when or where would FEMA post the re-instatement?

Seems we are stuck in a "fog" with this flood situation, again!

It is tomorrow - watch for the new budget bill to pass or another budget reauthorization. If you hear the government has shut down again, then the NFIP is on hold also.

I see HR 1892 will extend the NFIP expiration date to March 23, 2018. It appears this still needs to be signed by the President, correct?

If I understand correctly, the NFIP has not been reauthorized for the typical 5 years. President Trump signed an extension of the federal government's budget until 3/23/18. In other words, we get to do this again in 6 weeks.

My understanding is what the president signed today extended the NFIP expiration from 02/08/18 to 03/23/18. FEMA probably just hasn't updated their website yet.

David's link was updated this morning and says a reauthorization is needed by March 23, 2018.

So, if the President signs HR 1625 today, is this the part that reauthorizes the NFIP until September 30, 2019?

A little after midnight this morning, the Senate voted to pass a $1.3 trillion spending bill that will fund the government through the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30. The House voted to pass the measure yesterday afternoon, and President Trump was expected to sign it today.

Under the bill, the Small Business Administration’s 7(a) and 504 loan programs’ funding caps will rise to $29 billion and $7.5 billion, respectively. The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund will be fully funded, including $25 million for the Bank Enterprise Awards, which is the only program to which CDFI banks have had regular access in recent years.

The bill authorizes a 12.5 percent increase in low-income housing tax credit allocations for 2018-21, restoring a portion of the LIHTC value lost under tax reform. It also addresses the so-called grain glitch, a tax bill provision that tilted the playing field toward grain cooperatives over investor-owned companies and, as Bert Ely pointed out in last month’s issue of Farm Credit Watch, might have expanded Farm Credit System market share if not corrected.

The bill extends the National Flood Insurance Program through July 31. By decoupling the NFIP from short-term government spending bills, lawmakers hope to advance a multi-year reauthorization bill — a long-standing ABA priority.

Hate to ask, but what happens if the NFIP does not get renewed? Couldn't you still make loans with private flood insurance?

I just read on ABA Newsbytes this morning that the Farm bill that included Flood Insurance passed the Senate and NFIP was extended for 6 more months.

The Senate has several "issues" with the NFIP reauthorization bill passed by the House, but nonetheless, the Senate reauthorized the NFIP for 6 more months.

Dave, the bill has not become law has it?

It appears it passed the Senate, but has to be reconciled with the House & Senate Committees?

I believe its cited as S. 3042 (115). Can you confirm that its become law?

It has not gone to the President yet. It is part of the Farm Bill.
